The assignment is based on a primary healthcare service that takes place in Sandwell Wednesbury, King Street Birmingham. The client I have chosen are elderly and toddlers, whilst picking the ‘Health and Wellness’ sector of healthcare as the subject of matter. Based on the UK Government statistic, 10% of the citizen aged 75 years old and above tends to get admitted or seek consultation for their health. To the uprising concern, I decided to design a space where elderlies are able to receive health service and at the same time contribute to it. Therefore, I proposed that there should be a nursery and library in the primary healthcare building as the compassionate and therapeutic area that supports healing and recovery not just for the elderlies, but also with toddlers under the age of 1.

According to National Perinatal Information Center, among 183,030 newborns delivered during the study period, 14.4% were admitted to a special care nursery. Determined, I was inspired to combine those services as children are able to grow in a safe and matured environment, while elderlies are able to experience company, youthfulness and be more aware of their health during their service for the children.

My concept is based on them theme of “Circle of Life” and “The Old and The Young”, as projected, is drawn with the description of leveling because it represents life. There will be a total of six areas on the floor plan, which are: waiting area, reception area, administration office, toilet/WC, consultant area, nursery and library.
